Darren Markham is a volunteer firefighter so that means he doesn't get paid.

Darren is good at putting out fires. He put out fires in different ways like shutting the door, using foam
or using water.

Darren is a volunteer firefighter so that means he doesn't get paid. If Darren was on a family picnic and the siren rang, Darren would go and do his job quickly so firefighting takes over family time. Darren has to train. Darren trains in Goodwalk Park. They run with hoses and they practice with fires to get better at firefighting. They have pumps just in case they run out of water.

Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews works at the Police Station in Motueka. He is the Captain for Motueka.
He pulls people up when they speed and they go to jail.
He also puts robbers in jail.
Police sometimes sit in their cars to see if there is any people speeding and to pull anybody up.

I think that he is a really nice man. It is good that he looks after our town.

   He keeps the road safe. If people are crossing he makes sure that they're safe.

   His staff watch the crossings. When he was 6 or 7 he wanted to be a police officer.

Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews had to go to Wellington to do a course for six months.

Lorraine works for the S.P.C.A.

She looks after animals. Sometimes people ring up the S.P.C.A if they see people being cruel to an animal. Then the S.P.C.A go round to the house that has the animal. If the animal is being treated badly they take the pet away.
Lorraine can take any animal from any place or any one.
We bought my dog from the Christchurch S.P.C.A.
My dog's name is Benji. He was the only blond one of the lot.
I reckon she does a very good job at the S.P.C.A.

Room 7 at Parkland's School interviewed Ezekiel from the Salvation Army. He told us that whenever people need help he goes to them, to see if he can help. Ezekiel is from Zimbabwe in Africa.

   When people have no food Ezekiel takes them to the food bank. Ezekiel gets food from Count Down. He also gets other things like toys and clothes from people who make donations.

   Ezekiel loves talking to people. When people need help they some times ring the Salvation Army. When people are lonely Ezekiel talks to them to keep them company. Ezekiel also gives them love and care.

     Ezekiel started his job because he saw some kids looking bored and he wanted to help them. That's how he got his job!

   I think the salvation army is really good. if we didn't have the salvation army many people would be starving and cold. Ezekiel is kind loving and very very nice.

Darren helps cats and dogs and horses. Darren helped my friend Shannen's horse when it was stuck down a ditch.

Lorraine in Motueka works at our very own SPCA. She has saved lots of animals from human cruelty.

Lorraine chose to do this job because she really loves animals.

At the SPCA Lorraine helps look after all the kittens. They have lots of kittens . They get their kittens
from people who don't deserve to have them any more.

The SPCA also have a very special dog called Meg. Meg has a broken leg. Her owner told his children to take Meg to the bridge and throw her away . Lorraine happily looks after Meg.

When Lorraine was little, she lived in England and had lots of pets, she even had a grass snake! Lorraine is a very good person to work at the SPCA. I like Lorraine very much.

Mr Bailey came in and helped us put these on Blog posts. We used the ibooks for this and Adam our helper showed us how to load on our photos.
